The United Kingdom's National Land Information
Service (NLIS) www.nlis.org.uk is a public-private partnership between
the Company and the Local Government Information House (LGIH) - The UK
Council for the National Land (and Property) Information Service. The aim
of LGIH is to provide electronically the property information needed by
conveyancing solicitors to complete the sale of a property. The NLIS hub
provides official Searches from all the Local Authorities in England and
Wales, Her Majesty's Land Registry, the Coal Authority, and a number of
other data providers. MDA operates the NLIS Hub under licence from LGIH.
Customers can electronically access the searches provided by the NLIS Hub
via any
of the four NLIS Licensed Channels.
MDA plays a key role in NLIS. The Company:
- Built and operates the NLIS Hub, which directly and electronically
connects the government data providers to the NLIS retail Channels,
whose role
is to distribute the search information to customers.
- Operates two
of four licensed Channels:
In addition MDA provides two brands of personal search services via
MDA Searches (www.searches.mda.co.uk) and the Property Search Agency
(www.psa.co.uk).
